ラッチが相手側に確実に収まる様、ラッチストロークをロッドに伝える安全設計です。
THA-284-1は、ラッチ解除時のみ連動する非連動型です。閉扉時に平面ラッチやハンドルが連動する事はありません。

In order to ensure the engagement of the latch, the latch stroke can be verified by the movement of the rod.
THA-284-1 is the non-interlocking type that interlocks only when the latch will be released.
Useful when an interlocking is not necessary for closing door.
